I Travel Jerusalem

  • The atmosphere that surrounds the city is one of ancient tales, stunning architecture and a fascinating religious past. Alongside its marvellous historic and archaeological sites, Jerusalem has become in recent years a modern city of international tourism and culture, offering visitors a variety of festivals, cultural happenings and international sports events including the Jerusalem Opera Festival and the International Jerusalem Marathon. Jerusalem tours are centred around the city’s history. Renowned for being one of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem holds threads of history from a myriad of peoples including Canaanite, Israelite (Jewish), Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, as well as crusaders, Turkish ottomans and British. The city also boasts over 200 venue attractions, including theatres and over 60 museums.

The city is home to a range of world-class hotels and accommodations to suit every style and budget.  In recent years there has been tremendous growth in accommodations throughout Jerusalem, including family-friendly hotels, business hotels, romantic getaways, basic hostels, guesthouses, and, of course, luxurious 5 star hotels.

A dream destination for foodies, Jerusalem offers everything from cafes and lively restaurants to creative fine-dining, each providing a unique mix of international, Middle Eastern, traditional and modern flavours and styles. Mahane Yehuda Market is the hub and soul of the city’s food scene bringing together a bustling, dynamic exchange between vendors, busy locals and tourists. While many may think of Jerusalem as the city of gold, when the sun goes down, there is still plenty that shines. In the city centre, Mahane Yehuda Market, German Colony, Nakhalat Shiv’a, Shlomtsiyon Hamalka Street and the Russian Compound, offer visitors a vibrant night life and world class culinary experiences.

The surrounding area of Jerusalem has some exciting destinations. Situated on the top of a steep mountain, overlooking the desert and Dead Sea is Masada - the biggest and most complete Roman siege camp that remains today, with the walls of the buildings covered in beautiful embossing and murals. Tourists can also take a day trip to the Dead Sea and experience the sea’s natural healing properties.
